Biography

Bernardus was a miller in Escharen.

Bernardus was born in 1847 in Wamel, Gelderland .^[1]
He married Johanna Maria Wellens in 1879 in Ravenstein, Noord-Brabant.^[2]
After their marriage they moved to Escharen in Noord-Brabant^[3] where he rented the grain mill 'Zanddijk'^[4] and worked there as a miller from 1879 until 1887.
In 1888 the family moved to Grave, only 3 km away, where he worked as a baker.
In 1890 he was sentenced to 1 year in prison for fraudulently handling the bankruptcy of his mill business in Escharen (bedrieglijke bankbreuk).^[5] Bernard served his sentence in Rotterdam. His family moved in December to Woensel, Noord-Brabant. In March 1991 he reunited with his family. ^[6]
They had 11 children of which four were born in Woensel.
Bernard passed away in 1911.^[7]
